St. Augustine has always been my home. I was born here and was
baptized at the Cathedral-Basilica. My dad, Ed Pellicer, was of
Minorcan-English heritage and my Mom, Dot, who came from New
York State, is of French-English heritage. I’m a mutt!
I have been involved in music since an early age. The clarinet
and oboe were my main interests from 5th grade through high
school. For many years, I built my skills with the St. Augustine
Community Orchestra as principle oboist. It wasn’t until about
1981 that I began to sing. My brother dragged me kicking and
screaming to the Cathedral to join the choir. I sang alto for
several years because I could read music (many altos are really
sopranos who have a good range and can read music). It wasn’t
until that I started taking vocal lessons from our choir
director, Sister Patricia Eileen Consier, OP, PhD, that she
discovered my voice was in the soprano range. I studied with her
for about 15 years. She unwrapped the gift of my voice.
I began working for the Diocese of St. Augustine in February,
1996 beginning as the Associate Director of the Ministry with
Persons with Disabilities. It was there that all my skills and
talents came together: nursing, music and clerical skills. I
really loved working with the kids with disabilities at the
summer camps and discovered that the Buddies at these camps are
some of the finest teens I’ve ever met. A lot of our St. Joe
students serve as Buddies at Camps I Am Special, Promise and
Care. Several years later, I began working with the Ministry
Formation Program as Administrative Assistant. St. Joseph
Academy became my work and ministry in March, 1996. Quite a few
years later, I am proud and happy to be part of this community
as Administrative Assistant in the Guidance Office.
I have three children, Brendan (25 yrs old), Brianne (22 yrs
old) and John (18 yrs old). John will be a senior at St. Joe
next year. I am very grateful that he is here with me in this
amazing community.
