My current career began teaching middle school science at Palmer
Catholic Academy in 2000. I accepted an opportunity to teach
science at St. Joseph Academy in 2005. Currently, I teach
Chemistry Honors and standard, as well as Marine Science Honors
and standard. I also serve as faculty advisor to the Science
National Honor Society and the Science Club. Further
responsibilities include Technology Coordinator and Federal
Title Funding Coordinator, for the campus. I also hold a Level
IV technology certification with the Diocese of St. Augustine.
I earned a bachelor's degree in Marketing at the University of
North Florida. I am certified to teach High School and Middle
School Science, as well as Middle School Social Studies.
St. Joseph Academy allows me the opportunity to provide a
hands-on science approach to teaching. My students and I conduct
numerous experiments and demonstrations during our course of
study. We also, participate in various build competitions
through our Science Club.
I am a Jacksonville native and a veteran of the United States
Navy. I am married to Patsy Danahy Heiss (SJA '85) and have
three children.
