Lady
Flashes Soccer Team Finishes Second in 2007 District Championship
The Lady
Flashes continued to build on their winning tradition this past season at
St. Joseph Academy. The Flashes finished the 2006 / 2007 season with an
overall record of 13-8-1 and 5-1-1 in district play. The Lady Flashes
advanced to the first round of regional play to face the 2007 District 2
State Champions, St. Johns Country Day School. The Flashes attribute their
success to a solid and stingy defense a well balanced midfield attack and
more importantly their ability to play as a team no matter how adverse the
circumstances.
During the
winter awards banquet all sixteen players were recognized for their
contributions to the team. Four players were presented with awards:
Freshman MVP: Wren Humphries, Defensive MVP: Victoria Polwin, Offensive MVP:
Caleigh Hodgkins, and Coaches choice award: Jade Satz.
All three
seniors plan to continue their sports careers while attending college.
Caleigh Hodgkins and Jade Satz plan to play soccer for Flagler College.
Caleigh
signed an Athletic Letter of Intent for the upcoming year to play Women’s
Soccer for Flagler College, and will receive academic scholarship benefits.
Jennifer Cuevas signed an agreement to play softball for Gulf Coast
Community College in Panama City also with academic scholarship benefits.
Coaches:
Tony Burgess and A.J. Martin thoroughly enjoyed the season and are already
planning and looking forward to the 2007 / 2008 high school soccer season.
