Welcome.
St. Joseph Academy is the oldest Catholic High School in the State of Florida. Founded in 1866 by the Sisters of St. Joseph of St Augustine, it stands on a strong Catholic foundation of educational excellence and social justice. 

Mission Statement
As a private Catholic high school in the Diocese of St. Augustine we seek to provide an equal opportunity for each student, in a challenging academic environment, to become a knowledgeable, self-directed, compassionate Christian, able to face the challenges of the future with faith, hope, and love.

The Academy offers a college preparatory curriculum serving St. Johns County, St. Augustine, Palatka, Palm Coast, Ponte Vedra and Southern Jacksonville, Florida.

CONGRATULATIONS 2009 GRADS

• 100% were accepted to college.*
• 70% met the qualifications for a Florida Bright Futures Scholarship
• More than $3,000,000 in Scholarships were awarded.
• 85% graduated with a 3.0 or better for all four years.
• 80% will be attending a four-year college or university as a freshman.
• 81% will be attending a college or university in Florida next year.
• 10 of the 84 students of the Class of 2009 have been accepted to University of Florida.
• The Class served more than 5,000 Community Service Hours during their Senior year.
*(9th consecutive year of 100% College Acceptance for SJA!.


Senior Named Presidential Scholar

U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan announced the selection of Andrew P. Carmedelle as a 2009 Presidential Scholar. Carmedelle is one of 141 outstanding American high school seniors that have demonstrated exceptional academic achievement, artistic excellence, leadership, citizenship, and service at school and in their community. Carmedelle was chosen from a group of over 3,000 initial applicants. The 141 Presidential Scholars include one young man and one young woman from each state, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico, and from U.S. families living abroad, as well as 15 chosen at large and 20 Presidential Scholars in the Arts.
